SITE ANALYSIS & SITE SCANNING

CAMERON HIGHLANDS

The main aim of Project 2a is to identify and analyze the site context for project 2b and 2c design exploration. We were divided into groups, to carry out a site analysis. The data collected on site will then be taken back to the studio for analysis and presentation. Each of us was then to synthesize the data for their own design proposal.

Site Scanning required us to observe and explore the physical characteristic of the site. They are to observed, experienced and ‘scan’ it onto series of A5 postcard. ‘Scanning’ would entail the analysis and representation of the natural physical context onto abstract forms. The product of this exercise will then be translated to conceptual ideas for the following projects.

FAMOUS PEOPLE, FAMILIAR FACES-DIAGRAMATIC ABSTRACTION

In this project we were to investigate and to explore how spaces are created from the making of architectural elements: architectonics. Upon completion of the project student should be able to achieved a level of understanding on the works assigned and will be able to apply the idea and concept to their project later. The idea of using pure and diagrammatic drawing to express the architectural idea would also be in cooperated into this assignment.

DESIGN STUDIO 2 (ARC 1126)

TEA FOR TWO

In this 3 week project we where required to understand the concept of simple space planning requirement of a tea drinking pavilion. Each group of students will be given an equal amount of space to design at the Sungai Palas Tea Plantations in Cameron Highland.

TEA HOUSE

The final assignment requires the us to further explore the idea of the tea pavilion into a more complex program. Students are required to understand the spatial requirement of a tea house and translate them onto architectural program that includes public and private spaces.
